Get ready for flag football with meeting Aug. 13

The city of Steamboat Springs hosts an informational meeting for the upcoming Adult Flag Football League, at 6 p.m. Aug. 13 in Olympian Hall at Howelsen Lodge. All team captains and anyone looking to start a team in the league should attend. League fees and schedules will be discussed. The season runs from late August through mid-October. Parks department seeks survey responses

The city of Steamboat Springs' Department of Parks, Open Space and Recreational Services is seeking responses to its online survey, which will use community input to develop a master plan for Steamboat's parks, recreation facilities and programs.

Input from residents in unincorporated areas of Routt County and the RE-2 school district is also welcome. Participants randomly will be selected for a prize drawing at the end of August.

South Routt transit meeting next week

An update and presentation of preliminary findings of the South Routt Transit Needs & Feasibility Study is at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Oak Creek Town Hall. Call Routt County Commissioner Diane Mitsch Bush at 870-5220 for details.

LIFT-UP offers food assistance this quarter

LIFT-UP of Routt County is distributing USDA commodities for the third quarter of 2008 at LIFT-UP offices in Steamboat Springs, Hayden and Oak Creek, through the Emergency Food Assistance Program. Each eligible household may receive TEFAP foods once per quarter. This quarterly distribution ends Sept. 30. Food will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. Call 870-8804 from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday to inquire about income-eligibility and hours of operation for each office.

Volunteers needed for Ducks Unlimited banquet

The local chapter of Ducks Unlimited is seeking volunteers for its banquet and silent auction Sept. 5 at the Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel. If you would like to help with the banquet or have questions, call Ron & Kathy Whaley at 870-9947.
