First Friday ArtWalk, 5 to 8 p.m.:

¤ K. Saari Gallery hosts a reception for two Steamboat Springs artists: ceramist Julie Anderson and painter Nancy Jeffrey. Their show, "Confluence," features individual work as well as one collaborative piece. Call 870-0188.

¤ Artists' Gallery of Steamboat presents "Artists' Rodeo," featuring paintings by R.C. Dieckhoff, pottery by Barb Gregoire and Western photography by Judy Jones. The reception includes cowboy-style appetizers and live music. Call 879-4744.

¤ The Steamboat Art Museum features two exhibits: "Western Humor," a collection of ranch cartoons by Jerry Palen, Ace Reid and J.R. Williams; and "The New Frontier: Reflective Light Sculpture," a collection of object-oriented sculptures with black light enhancements by local artist Don Woodsmith. Call 870-1755.

¤ Epilogue Book Co. features new original paintings by local artist Susanmarie Oddo. Oddo gets inspiration for her work from children in Steamboat Springs. Call 879-2665.

¤ The Depot Art Center and the Steamboat Springs Arts Council host a traveling art show and sale by Mary Williams Fine Arts of Boulder. The sale features work by a number of well-known Western artists. It continues from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. In the Depot's front gallery, contemporary work in the "Summer Speaks in Colors" show will be up through the end of the month. Work from the annual artist member show will be end through the end of the month in the Emerging Artists Gallery. Call 879-9008.

¤ The Steamboat Arts & Crafts Gym features artist Barbara Cohen, who will lead an evening mosaics workshop at the gym on Monday and Tuesday. During the ArtWalk, Cohen will demonstrate basic mosaic techniques. Call 870-0384.

¤ Wild Horse Gallery features plein air paintings by a selection of its regional artists at its new downtown location, 802 Lincoln Ave. The gallery also is open in the ground flood of the Sheraton Steamboat Resort Hotel. Call 879-5515.

¤ "Art Unleashed," a fundraiser for the Routt County Humane Society, is under way at 12 downtown locations. Local artists decorated fiberglass dogs for the event. Their work will be on display in front of various businesses through the summer before they go up for auction Sept. 13. Call 879-5368 for more information.
