All juniors must take ACT test May 7

All high school juniors are required to take the ACT test May 7. Registration is automatic for enrolled juniors. No alternate test date is available.

Steamboat Springs students who wish to take a second ACT on June 14 can get registration materials in the counseling office at Steamboat Springs High School. All Routt County juniors can also register online at www.act.org. The registration deadline is May 9.

Tuesday

A "McTeachers Night" fundraiser for Soroco athletic programs is from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at McDonald's in Steamboat Springs. Teachers from Soroco High School, Soroco Middle School and South Routt Elementary will serve meals and McDonald's will contribute to South Routt athletics.

A parent academy with John Underwood is from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Steamboat Springs High School. Underwood, founder of the American Athletic Institute, will address youth substance use/abuse research and solutions. Dinner is provided with RSVP. Call 879.1562.

Wednesday

Steamboat Springs Middle School, Partners in Routt County and the Routt County Council on Aging host "Turn Back the Clock," a prom and luncheon for seniors, at noon at the Steamboat Springs Community Center. The event is free for people ages 60 and older and includes music from the '40s and '50s. Call Greg or Risheen at 871-3551 to RSVP.

A focus group for school district coaches/extracurricular activity sponsors, with John Underwood, is from 3:45 to 5 p.m. at Steamboat Springs High School.

Thursday

A dinner and presentation to gauge interest in a four-year program at Colorado Mountain College, for a bachelor's degree in elementary education in partnership with Mesa State, is at 5:30 p.m. in the Alpenglow Room of CMC's Willett Hall.
