Your commentary headline of April 16, "No need for 700 vote," reflected an elitist viewpoint indeed. Why not a vote on such an important issue as Steamboat 700 since it would affect every resident living here?
Your argument, based on language in the West of Steamboat Springs Area Plan, that "road and infrastructure costs, traffic impacts," etc. would be worse if development occurred farther away from Steamboat is ridiculous. These costs and structural impacts would be devastating on our current residents with an additional 2,000 homes and the requirements for both the most obvious needs as well as the unexpected consequences - both good and bad - of such a great additional population explosion inherent in this annexation.
