Signup is under way for Ski Town USA Golf Classic

The Healthcare Foundation for the Yampa Valley and the Steamboat Springs Rotary Club are hosting the 11th annual Ski Town USA Golf Classic & Benefit Auction, June 27 and 28 at Catamount Ranch & Club and Haymaker Golf Course.

The Golf Classic is limited to 216 golfers. Early, paid space reservations are required and are being accepted. Call the Healthcare Foundation at 871-0700 or e-mail golfclassic@yvmc.org.

The Healthcare Foundation proceeds will help support expanded cardiac services at the nonprofit, non-tax-supported Yampa Valley Medical Center. The purchase of a state-of-the-art CT scanner, a critical upgrade to patient care in the Yampa Valley, is projected to cost more than $1.7 million.

The Steamboat Springs Rotary Club's proceeds will go toward community services and scholarships. Rotary-sponsored events generate significant contributions to local organizations. Call Jenn at 871-2501.

Steamboat School Board holds all-day workshop

The Steamboat Springs School Board is meeting from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the George P. Sauer Human Services Center on Seventh Street for a workshop with Jim Weigel, a training consultant with the Colorado Association of School Boards.

Discussion items include the school-year calendar; treatment of students, parents and community members; communication; the process for future mid-year and end-of-year reviews of the superintendent; and a possible executive, or secret, session to discuss negotiations with the leading superintendent candidate, Dr. Shalee Cunningham of Napa, Calif. South Routt School Board to address budget

The South Routt School Board meets at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the South Routt School District offices, behind Soroco High School in Oak Creek. Agenda items include a Stagecoach survey presentation by Jane Colby; review of a second draft of the school district's preliminary budget; an update on the South Routt Early Learning Center and the school district's new heating system; approval of 2008-09 salary schedules and contracts for district staff and administrators and approval of the 2008-09 calendar.
