I agree with rockie29, the record is my favorite reading of the morning.

How about all the calls for lost cell phones over the years? Can't fugure that out, unless its a insurance scam and the requirement is a police report.

I find it funny that somebody would leave the garage unsecured and invite a second visit by a bear. Wanna bet they keep the dog food out there too?

I find it funny how the bears or dogs when someone reports one are always gone by the time the police arrive. Maybe they hear the sirens or maybe they just have a 6th sense lol! They are better than humans at evading the police and capture! No where in the country can you read something as funny as this every day, keep it up Steamboat, this is a tradition like no other! If you slip on a banana peel someone might call the 'Record' and you will end up in The Record lol.

The bear mentioned in yesterday's record was not found by police during their visit but was discovered in the garage and chased away by the home owner shortly after police left. It was the 2nd visit from the bear. I asure you the homeowners do not find it as funny as you seem to.

Insurance companies generally require a police report for stolen property. However, anybody with a deductible low enough to cover a cell phone is paying far more for insurance than they'd pay to replace the phone.

I find it funny that it is illegal for two Labrador retrievers to play in Phippsburg. Is it just illegal for dogs to play or is it "playing" in general? If it's playing in general what is the official objective of the park? I also find it funny that it's illegal to point a gun at a tree, I mean as long as you didn't shoot it or the tree didn't press charges what's the crime?

The garage door was not open. You are talking about a doggie door, big enough for a 12" tall dog, that has been there for a decade without problems before this season. Bears will also tear doors open, go through windows, etc. That is why seeking assistance to chase them away is sometimes required.

Hi loveboat,

Maybe you should close your garage next time! Bears love open garages to scavenge in. Or you could set a bear trap in your garage and then the bear would be in handcuffs as the police take it away!

Of course, loveboat, assistance is required sometimes. However, there are steps to avoid having a bear come a knocking at your house. Don't leave trash open, leave food in your house covered and away from windows where bears can smell the scent, etc. I'd love to see a bear arrested, taken to detox, and taken away in handcuffs.

LoveBoat you are way too uptight! Relax and realize that sometimes you have to laugh at things. Chill out, man.

Good point! I'd hate to be the cop to have to cuff the bear in someone's house!

I'm laughing so hard from the comment on the pointing a gun at a tree lol! Yea maybe the tree has feelings, and didn't like the gun being pointed at it lol! Attempted murder of a tree would be the charge, anyone know lol?
