Place of birth: The Motor City

Q. When did you move to Routt County, and what brought you here?

A. Nine years ago. Moved the gallery from Vail to Steamboat. Best move I ever made.

Q. What's the biggest risk you've taken recently?

A. Being in business for myself and raising two kids. Every day is an adventure.

Q. Describe your morning routine.

A. Wake up at 7 a.m., have a bowl of cereal and a glass of O.J., help get our 2- and 5-year-old ready for day care. Then read the paper, drink coffee, work out some days, shower and off to work.

Q. Has a book ever changed your life? What was it and why?

A. "Into the Wild," by Jon Krakauer. Take chances and live life to the fullest; but be smart about it.

Q. What's the best piece of advice you've ever been given?

A. Find out what you like to do and then how to make a living at it. The advice came from my dad

Q. What three things would you want people to know about you?

A. I'm married to Heather and have 2 kids (Kira, 5, and Shane, 2), sports and recreation are my way of life, and I'm loyal to friends and family.

Q. What did you want to be when you grew up?

A. Park ranger. I lived that dream for three years as a seasonal ranger in the Park Service but gave it up because of a freeze on full-time positions. It was great, and someday I may find my way back into the park service.

Q. Do you have a tattoo? If so, what of and why did you choose it?

A. Not yet, but I have a scar on my calf from mountain biking last summer and want a mountain biker riding up one side and a skier going down the other. Some day.
