Local student to attend Leadership Forum

Margaret Crouch, a sixth-grader at Steamboat Springs Middle School, has been accepted into the People to People World Leadership Forum, from Monday to Saturday in Washington, D.C. Along with other students from around the country, Margaret will earn high school credit while studying leadership and visiting some of the United States' most well-known monuments, museums and institutions, according to a news release from the People to People program.

In addition to visiting sites including Capitol Hill, the Smithsonian Institution, colonial Williamsburg, Va., and the National Museum of American History, Margaret also will participate in small-group discussions and exercises about leadership development.

She was nominated and accepted for the honor based on scholastic merit, civic involvement and leadership potential.

Former President Dwight D. Eisenhower founded People to People in 1956. More information on the program can be found on the Web at www.wlfleaders.org.
