Sunday lift closings

The Steamboat Ski Area has moved up by 30 minutes the previously published lift closing times Sunday, closing day for the 2007-08 ski and snowboard season.

Upper lifts are scheduled to begin closing at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, with lower-mountain lifts closing at 3 p.m., in time for the pond skimming event at the ski area base.

— A season pass to the Steamboat Ski Area will cost $979 for the 2008-09 winter, an increase of $30 from this season's price. Pass holders also will have to pay $75 if they want to add unlimited skiing to Winter Park and Copper. The first add-on cost, a deal known as the Rocky Mountain Ultimate Pass, was $50 for the 2007-08 season.

Intrawest announced Thursday afternoon the pricing for a variety of ski passes to its ski resorts in Steamboat, Winter Park and Copper Mountain. Not all passes saw an increase in prices.

Skiers who gravitate to Copper and Winter Park will see a $40 decrease in the price of a 2008-09 Rocky Mountain Super Pass Plus, to $439 from this year's price of $479. That pass allows unlimited skiing and riding at both resorts plus six unrestricted days at Steamboat. Another enticement for Super Pass Plus purchasers headed for a weekend of skiing at Steamboat is the ability to ski unlimited Friday afternoons here for free.

Steamboat's 2008-09 season pass price for teens is $529. The price is $289 for children ages 6 to 12 and $349 for people 70 and older.

"Our flexible pass options, especially the Rocky Mountain Super Pass Plus, provide an economical way for skiers, snowboarders and families to visit Winter Park, Copper and Steamboat to experience some of the best terrain Colorado has to offer," said Andy Wirth, Intrawest's executive vice president of sales and marketing and chief marketing officer. Wirth could not be reached for additional comment Thursday.

Intrawest again is offering Steamboat Super Value Passes. A 20-day pass is $799, a 15-day pass is $679 and a 10-day pass is $519.

Also similar to this season, skiers and riders who purchase a full Steamboat ski pass will receive one free season pass for a child 12 or younger.

A season pass to Copper will cost $349, the same as this season. A season pass to Winter Park will cost $359, an increase of $10 from this season's price.

Steamboat season passes may be purchased or renewed by logging on to www.steamboat.com/seasonpass or calling (877) 237-2628.
