Betty Leipold: Share the money
Wednesday, April 2, 2008
As I recall, the half-cent sales tax for education was originally intended for technology. Throughout the years, it has morphed into different uses, but not for Hayden and South Routt school districts.
Since these residents undoubtedly spend their money in Steamboat, I think Hayden and South Routt should be able to share a proportionate amount of the half-cent sales tax.
To quote Bob Herbert of the New York Times, "The ruling elite has stopped looking out for the collective interests of society."
