Optimist Club accepting applications
The Steamboat Springs Optimist Club is now accepting applications for its Teen of the Month program. Area high school students can pick up applications from school counselors or call Rob MacCarthy at 871-7179. The Teen of the Month program culminates in a recognition dinner in May for all of the teens and their parents, and a scholarship is awarded to the student chosen as Teen of the Year.
Cotillion accepting fall class registration
Steamboat Springs Cotillion is accepting registration for fall classes for fifth- through ninth-grade students. Participants will learn social etiquette and dancing including waltz, swing, Latin and other styles. The four sessions culminate in a theme party for fifth- and sixth-graders and a dinner party for seventh- through ninth-graders. Classes are held at the Steamboat Grand on Oct. 28 and Nov. 4, 11 and 18, from 5:15 to 6:45 p.m. for fifth and sixth grades and from 7 to 8:30 p.m. for seventh to ninth grades. Basketball coaches needed in Hayden
Hayden Parks and Recreation is looking for coaches for youth boys and girls basketball mini-camps to be offered in October, and for the fifth- and sixth-grade boys and girls basketball programs from Oct. 23 to Dec. 19. Hayden Parks and Recreation is hosting Open Gym nights from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays until Oct. 24 at Hayden High School. Call 276-3741 for information about all events.
Dance theater accepting scholarship applications
The Steamboat Dance Theatre is accepting applications for dance scholarships for fall dance. Anyone with financial need, child through adult, is welcome to apply for tuition assistance to study dance.
