Sailors shoot 230 to finish second

— The Steamboat Springs High School golf team qualified for the state

tournament Thursday after finishing second at the regional tournament

in Cortez.

The Sailors fired a team score of 230, just three shots behind regional

champion Basalt and one shot ahead of third place Cortez.

Michael Weston led Steamboat with a career-best round of 73, good enough for

third place individually.

Kaelen Gunderson shot 78 and Billy Taylor shot 79 to round out the team

score.

The Sailors' fourth golfer, Scott Ptach, battled an up-and-down day and shot

84.
