Cortez The Steamboat Springs High School golf team qualified for the state
tournament Thursday after finishing second at the regional tournament
in Cortez.
The Sailors fired a team score of 230, just three shots behind regional
champion Basalt and one shot ahead of third place Cortez.
Michael Weston led Steamboat with a career-best round of 73, good enough for
third place individually.
Kaelen Gunderson shot 78 and Billy Taylor shot 79 to round out the team
score.
The Sailors' fourth golfer, Scott Ptach, battled an up-and-down day and shot
84.
