enough with reporting the bears, they will be gone in 6 weeks, leave them alone, bear proof your garbage and they have no reson to come down, except for maybe a Fat Tire at the OTP.

Bears get in our garbage proof cans AND dumpsters almost every night at work, even when secured properly. I keep saying that if they can get in those that easily, they're smart enough to hire!

I think we need a bear ordinance for the entire County and we need to enforce it or the problem is only going to get worse. It doesn't do much good to enforce a bear ordinance in the city limits if the residents living just outside the limits fail to voluntarily abide by the rules. We don't have city bears and country bears. They don't care where the city decides to draw the line. We need to enforce compliance with bear proof garbage containers on everyone living in bear country.

I live in Steamboat II and we've never had a bear problem until the last month. We keep our trash can in the garage until garbage pickup day. However, many of our neighbors do not.

Just asking people to keep their garbage locked up doesn't work. There has to be a way to enforce the rules or the bears are going to be the ones suffering the consequences. They are just doing what comes naturally, following their noses to a food source.
