— A 26-year-old Hahn's Peak man died Friday night after being thrown from a van during a rollover accident on Routt County Road 129 south of Hahn's Peak Village.

Colorado State Patrol Trooper Melissa Fowler said James E. Miley Jr. was driving a 1995 Ford van north on C.R. 129 at about 8 p.m. when the accident occurred.

According to a Colorado State Patrol press release, Miley's van went off the right side of the road as he entered a left-hand curve. The van came back onto the road, skidded and then rolled 3 1/4 times, landing off the left side of the road.

Routt County Coroner Rob Ryg said Miley died of blunt force trauma to the head after being thrown from the vehicle during the accident.

Miley was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident, according to the State Patrol.

Alcohol and excessive speed are suspected to be contributing factors to the accident, the press release stated.

Toxicology results are pending, Ryg said.

No other injuries or cars were involved in the accident.

Officers with Colorado State Parks, the Routt County Sheriff's Office and the North Routt Fire Protection District assisted State Patrol with the accident.
