Wilderness EMT certification available
The National Outdoor Leadership School's Wilderness Medical Institute and Colorado Mountain College have partnered to offer nationally recognized wilderness EMT certifications to medical professionals already certified as EMT-Basics and higher. This course counts as 36 hours of Category 1 CME for Physicians, and an EMT Refresher for certified EMS personnel. The course runs Oct. 18 to 22. Register at the Colorado Mountain College campus in Steamboat Springs.
The Artists Way course begins Sept. 6
The Artists Way, a 12-week class taught by Susan de Wardt, begins Thursday at the Steamboat Arts & Crafts Gym. The class is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and will emphasize analytic skills, intuition and a lifelong passion for writing and art to support people in their quest for a more satisfying life. Book discussion for women, girls at library
Bud Werner Memorial Library is continuing its popular book discussion series for girls and women called "It's a Girl Thing." The free fall program is for girls ages 10 to 12 and a woman partner such as a mom, grandmother, friend or teacher. Registration is limited and begins Tuesday. Pairs may register for one or two discussions. Book discussion dates are 5:30 to 7 p.m. Oct. 12, Nov. 2 and Dec. 7. The library will give each pair a copy of the discussion book to keep.
