Routt County Sheriff Gary Wall was in his county-owned vehicle when he was pulled over and charged with DUI and prohibitive use of a weapon Saturday night. A Sheriff's Office employee provided Wall and his female passenger a ride home after the traffic stop.

Frank Roitsch: Vote 'no' on 1A
Vote "no" on Referendum 1A. It's a simple, continuing and escalating tax hike. It's an immediate 33 percent property tax increase that is then tied to the increase in valuation of your property, which is often 30 percent in a year. TABOR (Taxpayers Bill of Rights) presently limits the increase in total property taxes collected to 5.5 percent annually.

Colorado State Patrol troopers could have arrested Routt County Sheriff Gary Wall on suspicion of driving under the influence Saturday night, even though Wall is the county's top law enforcement officer.
Jack Dysart: Approve road tax
Voters should approve the road and bridge property tax, Referendum 1A. There is little dispute that the improvements are needed: an editorial in the Steamboat Pilot & Today pointed out that the road improvement plan is the result of many hours of county and volunteer effort and that it "provides a clear direction for the county that should be followed."
