Steamboat Springs The Routt County Conservation District and the Colorado State Forest Service are holding a free tree workshop to provide landowners an opportunity to learn about the importance of trees for their conservation efforts. The workshop speakers will be Randy Moench from the CSFS Nursery in Fort Collins, District Forester for CSFS John Twitchell, Forester Tara Mehall and representatives from Colorado Master Gardeners. Some of the topics will include windbreaks, species selection for your property, reforestation after a fire, mountain pine beetle outbreak update, comparisons of gardens and forests and the seedling tree program. The seedling tree program offers trees and shrubs of many different varieties such as spruce, Douglas-fir, cottonwood, willow, lilac, serviceberry, dogwood, ash, lodge pole pine, Colorado blue spruce and currant just to name a few.
The workshop is at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 8 at Olympian Hall, Howelsen Hill.
