Barbara De Vries: Remember to vote

— It doesn't make sense for citizens of Steamboat Springs to pay for a facility that is in direct competition with an established nonprofit business. It also doesn't make sense that the residents of our city would have to pay for it twice - once in property tax and once for a membership, if they choose to do so.

It does make sense that the "city" (that's us, folks), which already has major traffic and parking problems, might better spend part of that $34 million on improving our infrastructure.

We just might not have been given enough details on the "real" costs of this project. Now, it is up to you, the voter. No is the way to go on 2B and 2C.

Remember to vote.

For information on the "true" costs of the rec center, the process and the amenities included, go to www.skitownrec.com You can also get information at any of the candidate forums in the next few weeks. There is no money taken from infrastructure as Barbaras letter might imply. Yes or No make sure your vote is an informed vote.

so the ad in todays paper about 1 out of 5 of our children will develop skin cancer is a ploy for the rec center?
Honestly I couldn't decipher what the ad meant except for the 2B and 2C on it, which I had to look up since I don't know all my ballot issues by number..

My point is we don't need it, its a want, and a redundant want, we have many indoor (AND outdoor, hello, look outside!) options already in place.
