STARS calling on volunteers
Steamboat Springs Steamboat Training Adaptive Recreational Sports (STARS) is kicking off its second year offering adaptive ski and snowboard lessons to people with disabilities, and is looking for volunteers for the upcoming winter ski season.
"This is a great way to give back to your community and make a difference in the lives of Steamboat's residents and visitors with disabilities," STARS board member and Steamboat Ski School instructor Charlie Phelan said.
The Steamboat Ski and Snowboard School will be offering free training to STARS volunteers on all aspects of adaptive ski instruction. All STARS volunteers will be eligible to earn free lift tickets or a free season pass based on the number of hours worked over the course of the season.
All community members are invited to a volunteer information meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27 in the Round-Up Room located in Gondola Square.
