— The Routt County Riders Bicycle Club meets at 6 p.m. today in Centennial Hall to elect officers for 2008 and invite new members to join the club.

Club membership costs $20 for a year. Those funds go toward scholarships for young riders, 'Bike to Work Week,' maintenance of area trails and efforts to increase Steamboat Springs' standing as a bike-friendly community.

Steamboat currently has a silver-medal rating due to amenities including bicycle lanes and paths.

Last year, the Routt County Riders helped open Larry's Trail - dedicated to Larry Johnson - on Emerald Mountain and revamped the popular Lupin Trail.

Anyone is invited to join the club. Running for an officer position is also open to all. Those interested can attend tonight's meeting, visit www.routtcountyriders.org or call trails coordinator Gretchen Sehler at 819-1564.

"The more folks that are involved the greater voice we have in the community on the road and in mountain biking," Sehler said.
