2007 Election, How Routt County voted

Precinct by precinct breakdown of how Routt County voted

— Longtime South Routt School Board member Linda Long retained her District 4 seat after voters re-elected her Tuesday night.

Long has served on the board since 1994. She said Tuesday night that she is looking forward to a fourth term and reached out to her challenger, Jules Palyo, to continue his volunteer efforts in the district. Long received about 67 percent of the vote.

"I'm more excited that we got (Referendums) 3A and 3B in our pocket than whether I won or lost," she said.

Referendum 3B will help the district replace coal-fired boilers in South Routt School District schools. Referendum 3A will help the district restore staff and programs that have been cut because of declining enrollment and state revenues. Both referendums are property tax measures.

"It will make our job a whole lot easier as a School Board," Long said. "I'm excited to continue working with students, parents, staff and keeping their best interests in mind."

Long is no stranger to re-election campaigns - she said she has always faced an opponent for her district seat and credited Palyo for his candidacy and involvement.

"Jules would have done fine on the board, too, but 3A and 3B is the biggest concern," she said. "Passing those two makes it so much easier to wake up tomorrow morning."

Long also said Tuesday night that the School Board has other important projects on the horizon, such as the South Routt Early Learning Center.

Palyo said Tuesday night that despite failing to win the School Board seat, "nothing will change" in terms of his commitment to the district.

"I'm still here," he said. "I'll help out wherever I'm needed."

In other South Routt School Board races, uncontested candidates Tim Corrigan, Joel Harris and Rodney Wilson cruised to easy appointments.
