What a courageous and thoughtful column by Mike Lawrence on dealing with his stuttering.
I enjoy most of your writers, but I really have a strong appreciation for Mike's thoughtful writing abilities. His in-depth stories on Ellie Zwak, the water issues, education and political topics and ongoing daily reporting is a testament to overcoming speech impediments with grace, dignity and self-humor. As a journalism graduate, I appreciate his easy flowing and organized writing style even on difficult subjects.
Lawrence is really an asset to your newspaper and I'm glad you are able to recruit young writers based on pure talent, dedication and drive and not just the way they are trained to interview for a job. He works hard and deserves the writing awards he consistently receives.
