Don't expect to find any available campsites at Stagecoach State Park this weekend. There are, however, several local campsites with open spots.

— Area campgrounds are filling up quickly for Memorial Day weekend, but spots still exist at several local sites.

In the Steamboat Springs area, the Dry Lake and Hinman campgrounds are open, but people will need to take their own drinking water. The campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis and cost $10 a night.

The Freeman campground - just north of Craig - also is open. Camping there costs $12 a night because it offers consumable water, U.S. Forest Service officials said.

Kent Foster, recreation manager for the Forest Service's Hahn's Peak/Bears Ears Ranger District, said one of the more popular campgrounds - Hahn's Peak Lake Campground - might be open if Forest Service crews can finish hazard tree removal by the weekend.

For up-to-date information, call the district at 879-1870.

In the Steamboat Lake area, all campgrounds are reserved for Saturday and Sunday. There is some availability today, but those sites are expected to go quickly. Campsites can be reserved at www.parks.state.co.us or by calling (800) 678-2267 or (303) 470-1144.

All campgrounds in Stage-

coach State Park are reserved for the weekend. To check for cancellations, call 736-8366.

Yampa River State Park west of Hayden still has sites available for the holiday weekend. The campground has electrical ($18 a night) and tent ($14) sites available at the main campground as well as several primitive sites ($9) at the Public River Access. For more information, call 276-2061.
