Volunteers needed for Steamboat Marathon

Volunteers are needed for the 26th annual Steamboat Marathon, Half-Marathon, 10K run and Fun Run. Workers are needed June 2 and 3. Main Street Steamboat seeking artists for tunnels

Main Street Steamboat Springs is looking for artists interested in creating art on 4-by-8-foot sheets of plywood to be installed on the pedestrian tunnels in the downtown area. The sheets of plywood will be available for pick up at 751 Yampa St. Painting must be completed and ready for display during an unveiling event to be held May 31. Cayuse Classic scheduled for June 16 at Sidney Peak

The Cayuse Classic, a fundraiser for the Community Agriculture Alliance, is all day June 16 at Sidney Peak Ranch. There will be trail rides, youth gymkhana, live music, a Western barbecue dinner and a benefit auction. Dinner tickets are $50 for adults and $25 for children. Tobacco-free quit kits available at VNA office

Tobacco-free quit kits for smokers and chewers are available at the Visiting Nurse Association office in Steamboat, 940 Central Park Drive, Suite 101. The kits promote the Colorado QuitLine and free support from a trained coach who guides and supports individuals through the quitting process. Research shows you are seven times more likely to end your tobacco habit with help from QuitLine than if you try to quit on your own. Eight weeks of free nicotine patches are available. VNA to hold immunization clinics for adolescents

Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association will hold immunization clinics for adolescents ages 11 to 18 each Wednesday during May from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Steamboat VNA office, 940 Central Park Drive, Suite 101. Vaccinations will be offered for Meningococcal (offered only to students ages 11 to 12 years old, freshmen entering high school or graduating seniors attending college in fall 2007), Tdap (tetanus booster), Hepatitis A and HPV for females.

No appointment is necessary. Students younger than 18 must have a parent present and bring their vaccine records. The VNA charges a sliding scale of free to $14 per shot. A Spanish interpreter is available May 29 from 1 to 4 p.m. Call 879-1632.
