The council's decision came after a consultant-led presentation of site analyses and cost projections for various recreation options, which was followed by extensive public comment at a crowded meeting in Centennial Hall.

Registration is ongoing for the fourth annual Teen Battle of the Bands to be held May 19 at the Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel. The event, sponsored by the city of Steamboat Springs' Teen Programs, the Steamboat Pilot & Today, The Local and Z-Rock radio, will feature bands from Steamboat, Hayden, South Routt and Craig.
