The Glenwood model

The Glenwood Springs pool has kept the historical feel without becoming cheesy or losing the fun. I guess that's why its pool and facility are world famous. The springs in Steamboat has the same potential : no?

Changing town

I remember the first time I came to steamboat in 1990. It was a beautiful little town. Not anymore. I cannot imagine what it is going to be like after they build another 1,100 to 2,600 homes. Oh yeah, affordable homes and rentals - I cannot wait to see what they consider affordable.

Utes are true locals

No one can control where they were born. Seems that lots of people who are "native" to Colorado have a "Holier than thou" attitude. Unless you are Ute, you are not a local. Steamboat is a town "doomed for success."

Limits of the springs

The Old Town Hot Springs is a wonderful leisure pool with a few lap lanes and, because of physical constraints, will always be just that. This community needs indoor competition swimming and diving pools not only for the schools, but also for the adults.

Kudos to Wall

I have never read any reputable source that says sexually violent predators can be rehabilitated. Kudos to Sheriff Wall for letting us know. Where was the old sheriff on this?

Dr. D's role

John DeVincentis needs to understand his role and stop micro-managing a person who he can't stand for personal reasons. Donna Howell has done nothing but her job, and just because DeVincentis cannot stand having an intelligent woman in a position of power does not justify his continued attempts at undermining what is best for our schools and our children.

Superintendent needed?

Fire Howell. Don't fill the position. She's being paid the same as a superintendent with 20,000 kids in the schools. She only has 2,000. It seems that Steamboat business is always all about hiring somebody and paying them a lot of money to provide some service that we could do without in the first place. Get back to basics. Hire competent teachers, keep discipline in the schools, and have school principals report directly to the school board.

Lose the tie

Regarding Steamboat TV18 newscaster Dan Divens: Lose the tie. This is Steamboat for crying out loud. You want to wear a tie, go do news in Denver.

Get priorities straight

Great... there are people running around with green and purple mohawks, tattoos covering their bodies, piercings that would gag a maggot, wearing thong bikinis and shorts with their cheeks hanging out, etc... and you want to complain about a newsman wearing a tie? Glad you have your priorities straight!
