Gas sparks Phippsburg fire, destroys barn

— Routt County Sheriff's Office deputies assisted firefighters with a barn fire in Phippsburg on Thursday afternoon.

Lt. Bill Brandenburg said the fire was reported at about 2 p.m. The fire started when a boy was refueling his four-wheeler, and gas was spilled onto the hot engine, Brandenburg said. The boy was not injured, but Brandenburg said the barn was likely destroyed.

Adult softball, soccer league meetings April 11

The city of Steamboat Springs' Recreation Division will hold a meeting about the adult softball and adult soccer summer leagues April 11 at the Steamboat Springs Community Center.

All teams that intend to play this summer are required to have a representative at the meeting. League fees, rules, schedules and deadlines will be announced.

The softball meeting is at 6 p.m., and the soccer meeting is at 7 p.m.

4-H member enrollment ongoing, open to all youths

Membership enrollment is ongoing for Routt County 4-H. Routt County 4-H membership is open to any youth in the Routt County area, regardless of race, color, creed, sex, national origin or disabled condition. Participants must be between the ages of 5 and 18 as of Jan. 1, 2007.
