Steamboat Springs Volunteers needed for NASTAR races today
The Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp. is looking for volunteers for the NASTAR National Championships, which begin today and end Sunday at the Steamboat Ski Area. Specific needs include course workers, scoreboard keepers, announcers and gate judges. Strong, capable skiers able to set up and maintain the course on skis are needed. One lift ticket, good through the 2007-08 season, will be given for every seven hours worked by a volunteer. Call Sandy Dye at 871-5387 or e-mail sdye@steamboat.com.
Passover seder to be held April 3 at the Grand Hotel
Har Mishpacha, Steamboat Springs' Jewish community group, will host a Passover seder with Rabbi Joe Goldman on April 3. Seating begins at 5:15 p.m. in the Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel's Priest Creek Ballroom. The service begins promptly at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $35 for adults ($50 for nonmembers) and $15 for children ($30 for nonmembers). Hayden library's annual Book Fair begins this week
The Hayden Public Library's annual Scholastic Book Fair is this week. The fair runs during regular library hours through March 26. Stop by and participate in the "Guess the Goldfish Jar" game. All books and other fair items must be purchased with cash or checks.
Visiting Nurse Association needs volunteer reserves
Join the Visiting Nurse Association in Routt and Moffat counties in its efforts to generate a dependable volunteer contingent of medical and nonmedical personnel who are ready to perform various public health services during local, regional, state and possibly national emergencies. VNA is hosting a community interest meeting about becoming involved with Northwest Colorado's first Medical Reserve Corps from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Jan. 31 in Conference Room 1 at Yampa Valley Medical Center. There will be in-class and online trainings in addition to active simulations and practice sessions. For more information, call VNA volunteer coordinator Diana Eilers at 871-7648.
