TV 18 Video: Firefighters needed

Erin Collins of Steamboat TV 18 visits with Jacqui Campbell, fire and life safety educator for Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue, about efforts to recruit new firefighters. The department is accepting applications for recruit firefighters through April 1. The recruit program is a nine-month program that includes monthly meetings and skills testing on firefighting curriculum.

Video: News update for March 16

A facilitator will try to help the Steamboat Springs School Board and Superintendent Donna Howell hash out lingering differences during a meeting Tuesday. A fire Thursday morning consumed more than 14,000 gallons of crude oil on the surface of a well site east of Hayden and sent heavy black smoke into the air that was visible from as far away as Oak Creek. Flames from the fire reached 100 feet into the air at one point. In sports, The Steamboat Springs Sailors got their first soccer win of the year, shutting out Eagle Valley 2-0 Thursday at Gardner Field.
