9Health Fair blood draw appointments available

— Yampa Valley Medical Center, which is sponsoring the 9Health Fair on March 31, is offering Early Bird Blood Draws from March 14 to 16. Some appointments are still available between 9:30 and 10:15 a.m. The blood draws are by appointment only. Call 875-2758 to schedule an appointment.

Former Broncos to face Steamboat All-Stars

A group of former Denver Broncos will play an exhibition basketball game against Steamboat Springs All-Stars at 6 p.m. March 31 in Kelly Meek Gymnasium. Doors open at 4:30 p.m., and there will be an autograph session, concessions, prizes and other drawings. Admission is $20 for adults and $10 for children 3 to 18. All proceeds will benefit the Steamboat Springs Booster Club. The ex-Broncos include Billy Thompson, Dave Studdard, Mark Jackson, Ron Egloff and Larry Brunson. E-mail broncos@springsips.com.

Officials issue warning about baby food

Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment officials are warning parents to not feed their babies Earth's Best Organic 2 Apple Peach Barley Wholesome Breakfast baby food because of the risk of contamination with clostridium botulinum. Officials warn consumers not to use the product even if it does not look or smell spoiled.

The product is part of a nationwide recall initiated by the manufacturer, Hain Celestial Group, affecting 97,728 4.5-ounce individual jars and 38,298 variety packs with the specified jars of the breakfast product. The food is part of the firm's "2nd Vegetables, Fruits and Blends" line intended for babies 6 months and older.

It is not known whether the contaminated food was distributed in Colorado. For more information about the recall, call (303) 692-3620.

Optimist Club accepting Teen of Month applications

The Steamboat Optimist Club is accepting applications from area high school seniors for its Teen of the Month award. All teens recognized as a Teen of the Month will be eligible for a $1,000 Teen of The Year award to be presented at the Teen of The Year dinner in May. Applications are available at all counselors offices in Steamboat Springs, Hayden and Oak Creek, or call club president Sid Hopkins at 870-8172 or Rob McCarthy at 871-7179 for more information.
