Sailors Shoot-Out golf tourney begins June 25
The Sailors Shoot-Out golf tournament to raise money for the high school golf team begins at 12:30 p.m. June 25 at Catamount Ranch and Club with a shotgun start. The cost is $150 a person or $600 a foursome. Entry includes greens fees, cart, lunch, post-tournament appetizers and prizes. Call Steve Dodson at 879-9045 or Jim Miller at 871-9200 to register.
Methodist Vacation Bible School is June 25 to 29
United Methodist Church's Vacation Bible School is from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 25 to 29. The free camp includes dinner and is for children from age 4 to 12. Register at the church or by calling Diane Bowers at 879-5877. Donations will be accepted.
Volunteers needed for Hot Air Balloon Rodeo
Volunteers are needed July 7 and 8 for the annual Hot Air Balloon Rodeo. No experience necessary, and volunteers will receive a free 2007 event T-shirt. Call Molly at 875-7009 or stop by the Steamboat Springs Visitors Center at 1255 S. Lincoln Ave.
Shingles vaccine now available at VNA office
Zostavax, the shingles vaccine, is now available at Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association for adults 60 and older. The vaccine helps prevent shingles and also can reduce the pain associated with shingles. VNA will offer the vaccination for $190 a shot. The shot is not covered by Medicare. In some cases, VNA can provide the vaccine free of charge to uninsured, low-income adults through Merck's Patient Assistance Program. The Totally Kids summer program in Hayden is gearing up for the summer. Students ages 5 to 12 can join the program, which offers different activities every day, including swimming, movies, picnics, fishing, art projects and more. Call 846-9083 for more information.
Newborn Network seeks volunteers to visit families
Did you know more than 400 children are born each year in Routt County? Do you have between two and four hours a month to visit families in your community and celebrate the birth of their child?
Help all children in Routt County get off to a bright beginning by becoming a Newborn Network volunteer. On request from the family, a local volunteer provides a home visit, which includes a gift bag and information about community resources and child development.
Our home visit program is available at no cost to parents in Routt County. A volunteer training has been scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 29. For more information, call Newborn Network at 879-0977.
