Betty Leipold: Future bleak?
Sunday, June 17, 2007
Does any one of our elected officials have the courage to curb the insatiable appetite of Jim Cook? And where does he get off telling Bob Logan that he should move his service station because the land is too valuable?
When Mr. Cook finishes, Lincoln Avenue will be a 13-block mall with massive buildings that look like Anywhere USA. And speaking of Main Street, why do we have to pay a consultant over $400,000 to tell us what we need? The last high-powered consultants told us what we should do with Lincoln Avenue: She said: Like Vail, we should widen the sidewalks, plant taller trees and round the corners at intersections. Well?
