Goodbye, police chief

Linda will be missed. Longest serving Oak Creek police chief since Reggie Mayes. I think her service to the Town should be remembered as an inspirational story of starting at the bottom, taking classes, getting POST certified and serving as head of the police dept for over two years without a significant law enforcement controversy.

Gen. Olds was a leader

Robin Olds was a truly great leader in every sense of the word. It seems somehow fitting that he died on Flag Day.

Let's see some expenses

Would love to see Bustos' expense account records on this one! Are they public records? County Commissioners, get on board an give the public some accountability for their tax dollars at work in the Sheriff of Steamboat's office! Let us see vehicle use logs ... something's fishy here. How come the public is finding out about this almost a month later?

Other driver at fault, too

Someone else's failure to obey a stop sign is not a justification for causing an accident. The driver of the van was probably speeding and could have avoided the accident if they were using proper care approaching the intersection. Bustos made a mistake - it's not like he blew the stop sign, as is common practice here in Routt County.

Bidding Steamboat adieu

Steamboat, I bid you adieu. I knew and I so loved you once, but now we are strangers, separated by time and now progress. I would say to you: Keep your heart and your soul; but those you have sold. It is those two things, my love, I will so miss. If I wanted to live in Aspen or Vail, I would have. But I wanted you; and now you are a stranger. I have no desire to even know you.

Dee was to be respected

I, too, will miss Dee Richards. We may not have always agreed with what she had to say in the newspaper, or in person. But, her opinion was to be respected.
