Moots hosts Ride the Rockies open house Sunday

Moots Cycles hosts a Ride the Rockies open house from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday and 7 to 9 a.m. Monday at the factory, 2545 Copper Ridge Drive. There will be factory tours, a raffle for Moots Ti products, bike-friendly refreshments and ice cream. Enjoy homemade ice cream pedaled to perfection with the world's only titanium ice cream bike. Peter Mayfield graduates with psychology degree

Peter Mayfield, of Steamboat Springs, graduated with a bachelor's degree in psychology from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Ore., during a commencement ceremony held May 6.

Middle school Art Club completes LIFT-UP mural

The Steamboat Springs Middle School Art Club, in collaboration with Partners in Routt County's school-based mentoring program, recently completed a mural at the LIFT-UP of Routt County food bank. The mural was created in celebration of National and Global Youth Service Day. Seven middle school students participated in the planning and creation of the mural after school during the past two months. The project was made possible by a grant from the Legacy Education Foundation. For more information, visit www.yvlei.org.

Gina Light receives doctorate in education

Gina Light, granddaughter of E. D. Light and Ruth A. Light (both deceased), received her doctorate in educational leadership from Hamline University on May 19. Her dissertation topic was "The Impact of the Classroom Teacher's Understanding of Technology Integration on the Role of the Library Media Specialist."

Dr. Light is employed as a library media specialist in Shakopee, Minn. She also is the president of the Minnesota Educational Media Organization and working with the Minnesota Department of Education on embedding technology standards for teacher licensure. She and her husband, Jim Battenberg, reside in Chaska, Minn.
