Flat Tops Llama Trek fundraiser starts July 23
The Flat Tops Llama Trek, a fundraiser for Yampatika, is from July 23 to 27. A second trek is from Aug. 6 to 8. Hike with the llamas on this amazing wilderness camping experience. Explore high peaks, mountain meadows and stunning views of the Flat Tops Wilderness. The cost is $650 a person for four nights or $350 a person for two nights. Call 871-9151 to register.
Dance Theatre accepting scholarship applications
The Steamboat Dance Theatre now is accepting applications for dance scholarships for spring or summer dance. Anyone, child through adult, with financial need is welcome to apply for tuition assistance to study dance. Vacation Bible School for children begins June 18
Vacation Bible School for children ages 3 to 11 is from 6 to 8:30 p.m. June 18 to 22 at Steamboat Christian Center. The cost is $25 for the entire week. Call 879-0063 to register.
HPV vaccine available for girls through VNA
The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine now is available through the Colorado Vaccines for Children program for eligible girls ages 9 to 18. The vaccine protects against four major types of HPV, including the types that cause about 70 percent of cervical cancer cases and 90 percent of genital warts. HPV is spread through sexual contact. Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association provides vaccinations for children under age 19 years on a sliding scale of free to $14.50 a shot. No child will be refused a vaccine due to an inability to pay. Additionally, VNA can provide the vaccine to eligible low-income women ages 19 to 26 who have no insurance under Merck's Patient Assistance Program. For more information, call the VNA at 879-1632.
