Steamboat Springs That John DeVincentis would lie (to another school board) and send vitriolic e-mails (those published by this newspaper) over a two-year period, while shocking, were not surprising to my husband or me. It was just public evidence of what we've known for quite some time.
Our first experience with John DeVincentis was more than 20 years ago, when in our opinion he exhibited cruel behavior to one of our foster children. For most of my interactions with DeVincentis throughout the years, both on and off the Steamboat Springs School Board, I found him to be extremely difficult to work with.
The current recall effort would not have been necessary if he would have resigned. But he did not. This is not the sort of leader our community warrants. His continued board service will be hurtful to the district, because of damage that has now become very public.
I am carrying a recall petition because at this point, the recall election is in the best interests of our community, our district, our tax revenues and most importantly our children.
