CMC helping business owners collect payments
Entrepreneurs struggling to manage "accounts receivable" and collect payment on overdue accounts have an opportunity to learn new skills Wednesday.
The Small Business Resource Center at Colorado Mountain College will host a "Success Steps" seminar on Commercial Collections Basics at 7:30 a.m. in Room 300 of Bogue Hall. The fee is $10 and includes a continental breakfast. Registration is not required.
Topics to be covered include the impact of poor credit management on a small business, practical debt/credit management practices, polite professional follow-up on past due accounts and addressing serious collection problems.
Entrepreneurs, learn before you open shop
Prospective entrepreneurs contemplating a new business have an opportunity to recognize common pitfalls during a two-day workshop from 12:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday in room 300 of Bogue Hall on the Colorado Mountain College campus.
The program has been redesigned to make it applicable to existing small businesses as well as start-ups. Presenters include local business people with successful consulting practices and long-term management careers.
The fee is $100 except for people who have taken part in "First Steps" classes within the past 12 months. In that case, the fee is $60.
