Man injured in accident

A 58-year-old Steamboat Springs man suffered broken bones and lacerations Monday morning in an accident involving two trucks on Routt County Road 33.

Colorado State Patrol Trooper Melissa Remner said Merlyn "Jack" Horner was driving west on C.R. 33 at about 6:40 a.m. when his vehicle was hit by a red truck that had lost control while rounding a curve. Horner apparently had pulled off the side of the road in an attempt to avoid the oncoming truck.

The driver of the other truck, 20-year-old Lymon Ketron of Tennessee, was cited for careless driving resulting in injury and not having proof of insurance, Remner said. She said Ketron was traveling faster than the posted 40 mph speed limit when the accident occurred.

Ketron was not injured. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.

Horner was taken to Yampa Valley Medical Center, where he was listed in fair condition Tuesday afternoon, a hospital spokeswoman said.

What if a bike had been there instead of Mr. Horner when the oncoming truck missed the curve? Dead biker, that's what.

Warnings do no good. I guess we'd better just start keeping score.

Somebody notify Lyons to lay in a bunch of Hallmark teddy bears for the memorial displays.

Kingsride and id04sp-Are you serious? The man is in the hospital and you're talking about karma? You are a sick individual who needs to grow up! And if you knew how karma worked, you would realize this has nothing to do with karma. Jack Horner never swerved at a biker, nor did he ever run one off the road, so why would he have any karma coming to him? And we are serisously back to the issue of bikers vs. drivers? Can we not just stop for a moment and think, "He's a person who was in an accident and we should support him?" Get off your high bikes and stop wishing karma on people who have done nothing wrong, aside from expressing an opinion, or using an unfortunate accident to further an arguement.

thalgard:

You are a moron. There was no "ju-ju" involved, just a stupid driver who came at Jack.

Hopefully the wide berth will come from your stupidity.
