Fair Association looks to fill board vacancy


The Routt County Fair Association has an opening on its volunteer Board of Directors. Interested people should submit a letter of interest to the Routt County Fair Association by e-mail at; fax at 276-1023; or mail to P.O. Box 1000, Hayden, CO 81639. Letters must be received by Jan. 30. Interviews will take place Feb. 7 in Oak Creek. Applicants must be residents of Routt County and able to attend meetings at least once a month. Library book discussion series to continue in spring

Bud Werner Memorial Library will continue its popular "It's a Girl Thing" book discussion series for girls and women this spring. The free program is open to girls ages 10 to 12 and a woman partner such as a mom, grandmother, friend or teacher. Pairs can sign up for one or two discussions.

Program dates are Feb. 2, March 2 and April 6. Discussions are from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the library. The library will give each pair a copy of the discussion book to keep. Pre-registration is required. Call 879-0240 or stop by the children's desk.

Group seeks volunteers

to teach English classes

Comunidad Integrada needs volunteers to teach English to local immigrants. Volunteers must commit to 1 1/2 hours a week for six months. A two-part training for volunteers is from 6 to 9 p.m. Jan. 10 and 17 in Bogue Hall on the Colorado Mountain College campus. Call 819-1328 to register. No foreign language skills are necessary.

Children, teens chip in for 'Food For Fines' program

Bud Werner Memorial Library is pleased to announce that during its "Food For Fines" program in December, 101 children and teens donated 654 items of food to the Steamboat Springs LIFT-UP Food Bank. The library wishes to thank all the children and parents who participated in this annual program.
