Basketball games canceled

Routt County — Many high school athletic events were canceled Friday night in Routt County because of snow elsewhere in the state. Steamboat Springs athletics director Richard Lee said he canceled the boys and girls basketball games against Delta early Friday afternoon after Delta's coaches called to report hazardous road conditions near Meeker.
Soroco athletics director Andy Johnson canceled Friday's boys and girls basketball games in Oak Creek because of travel problems for the visiting Rangely teams.
Lee said the Steamboat girls basketball game at 4 p.m. today against Palisade is still on schedule. The boys game at 5:30 p.m. also is expected to by played. Lee said the hockey teams' games also were on schedule for Friday night and Saturday morning in Colorado Springs.
No information was available for the Hayden boys and girls basketball games Friday night in West Grand and today in Hayden.
