Chelsea's closes in Steamboat

Lincoln Avenue Chinese restaurant lasted just eight months

The owners of Chelsea's closed their Steamboat Springs restaurant Tuesday. The doors of the Chinese restaurant at 345 Lincoln Ave. were locked after lunch, and a voice on the telephone answering machine said, "We regret to inform you that Chelsea's is closed due to unforeseen circumstances."

Hayden nets big win

Boys stage comeback, advance in districts

No one said the Hayden boys basketball team would have it easy. The Tigers were in a three-way tie for last place in the eight-team Class 2A District 5 standings after ending their season with a Feb. 13 win against the Little Snake River Rattlers (Baggs, Wyo.). Their record was 5-12 overall and 2-6 in district play.

A four quarter effort

Hayden girls upset Grand Valley in districts

In their Feb. 9 meeting, the Hayden girls basketball team hung with Grand Valley for three quarters before losing its steam and losing by 10 points. When the No. 5-seeded Tigers drew the No. 4-seeded Cardinals in the first round of the eight-team Class 2A District 5 Tournament last weekend, they knew they would need to put together a complete game.

In the topsy-turvy first round of the Class 2A District 5 Tournament - which saw the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds eliminated - the Soroco boys basketball team could not add another upset to the list.

City Council approval puts One Steamboat Place on fast track

Jim Wells prepared a presentation for Tuesday night's City Council meeting, but he never got past the first slide. The Steamboat Springs City Council approved the community housing plan for One Steamboat Place with a 5-0 vote that came before Wells even had time to dim the Centennial Hall lights to show his PowerPoint presentation.
