Steamboat Springs Financial speaker series luncheon Thursday
New Frontiers for Girls and Women is holding an informative luncheon as part of the "Women, Wealth, Wisdom" speaker series. The luncheon at noon Thursday at Rex's All American Grill is titled "Steps to Financial Security: Start Late and Finish Financially Secure." Eileen Allen with Wells Fargo Investments will be the featured speaker. The cost is $14. RSVP by Monday to the Yampa Valley Community Foundation at 879-8632.
Breakfast: Competing with national chains
A Success Steps Breakfast titled "Retail Benchmarking and How to Compete With National Chains" is from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Wednesday in Bogue Hall on Colorado Mountain College's Alpine Campus. The discussion is geared toward those running a retail store or thinking about opening one. Steve Hitchcock, a veteran manager and executive at Marmot and Patagonia, as well as the owner of Soda Creek Pizza and Gnarly Charlie's, will host the program. The cost is $10, which includes a seminar fee and continental breakfast.
Aaron Maddox joins Mountain Valley Bank
Aaron Maddox has joined Mountain Valley Bank's full-time staff as an internal auditor and loan analyst. A native of Steamboat Springs, Maddox graduated from Steamboat Springs High School in 1996.
He received his bachelor's and master's degrees in accounting in 2000 and 2006 from the University of Wyoming. He worked as a staff auditor for Anderson & Whitney, P.C. in Greeley from 2004 to 2006 and as an internal auditor and financial analyst for Landmark Homes in Carson City, Nev., from 2001 to 2003. He received his CPA license in December.
Maddox is the treasurer on the Tread of Pioneers Museum Board of Directors and is working with the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association in its efforts to build a new medical center in Walden.
Mountain Valley Bank operates Colorado banks in Steamboat, Hayden, Walden and Meeker.
