Hayden police seeking info about gunshot incident
Hayden Police Department officials are seeking information from any resident who may have heard a gunshot or seen anything suspicious Sunday night.
Hayden Police Chief Ray Birch said Officer Russ Davis was driving west on Jefferson Avenue near Pine Street when he heard two gunshots at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
Davis, Officer Darin Falk and Routt County Sheriff's Office Deputy Sean Hockaday couldn't find any spent shell casings or gunshot holes in the area, he said.
"The guys were essentially looking for anyone in the area or on foot with a handgun," he said.
After speaking with residents in the area, officers decided to return to the area Monday morning.
"We're not sure if someone was shooting at a random target or if someone was possibly targeting one of our units," he said. "We take these incidents very seriously."
Anyone with any information is asked to call the Hayden Police Department at 276-3741.
