Local Alpine skiers capture second again

Steamboat Springs For the second straight week, the Steamboat Springs boys Alpine ski team placed second.
The boys once again finished behind Summit, which took the top two spots on the podium in the Friday slalom event at Beaver Creek. Battle Mountain finished in third place.
Alpine coach Chad Bowdre said he was extremely pleased to see how well the boys placed despite the extremely cold conditions.
Ramsey Bernard was Steamboat's top overall finisher, placing third with a combined time of 1 minute, 16.85 seconds.
Wiley Thayer finished sixth and Jordy Bernard finished 10th.
The girls team finished in third place behind Summit and Battle Mountain.
Lorin Paley finished in eighth place with a combined time of 1:31.75. Sarah Dixson finished in 10th, and Chrissy Ford and Hanna Berglund finished in 11th.
Bowdre said the Sailors' recent finishes have him excited to see what happens at the state skiing championships in Vail on Feb. 15.
