Cutter named Rotary "Student of the Month"
Theresa Cutter, a senior at Christian Heritage School, was honored as a Rotary "Student of the Month" at the December meeting of the Steamboat Springs Rotary Club. Theresa is the daughter of Louis and Mary Ann Cutter. The Cutters and the Reverend John Brothers, one of Theresa's Christian Heritage School teachers, joined her at the presentation.
Theresa is student council president and has been named valedictorian of her 2008 graduating class. She is on the varsity Steamboat Springs High School soccer team.
She has been an altar server since the third grade, and has also served as a lector, youth leader and Eucharistic minister. During her years at Christian Heritage, she has raised funds for Sudan/Uganda relief projects including a Ugandan orphanage.
Principal Alan Weisberg nominated Theresa for the student of the month recognition.
"Theresa is a strong, positive leader to our students, "he said. "She is organized, focused, kind under pressure and an inspiration to our younger students."
She has been accepted to the University of Portland and was offered a $40,000 academic scholarship. She will make her final decision on college after hearing from the University Notre Dame and Fairfield University.
"Theresa joins a list of truly inspirational young men and women who have been honored as Rotary Students of the Month," said Sandy Evans Hall, president of the Steamboat Springs Rotary Club.
