Steamboat Springs Age: 44
Occupation: Writer
Place of birth: Pennsylvania
Q. When did you move to Routt County, and what brought you here?
A. I came to ski all winter long in 2001.
Q. What's the biggest risk you've taken recently?
A. Quitting my day job to be an author.
Q. Describe your morning routine.
A. Try not to walk into walls as I make my way to the kitchen for a cup of java or tea, read books for research, edit my work-in-progress and/or write. Oh, and make breakfast for the gang. If it is a powder a.m., then all bets are off.
Q. Has a book ever changed your life? What was it and why?
A. I love so many books from "The Hours," "The Time Traveler's Wife," anything by Natalie Goldberg, Barbara Kingsolver and Peter Mayle to "Waiting," "Driving Over Lemons," "Instructions to the Cook," "A Zen Master's Lesson in Living a Life that Matters" to "Gone With the Wind" that I read the summer before I turned 10.
Q. What's the best piece of advice you've ever been given?
A. "Life is all about fun and games!"
Q. What three things would you want people to know about you?
A. I love to ski, read and write.
Q. If you could invite any four people to dinner, who would they be and what would you talk about?
A. Maya Angelou, Eve Ensler, Bette Milder and my 16-year-old daughter. We would discuss how women can make the world a better place.
Q. Do you collect anything?
A. Skis and bikes.
Q. In the Meatloaf song, "I'd do anything for love, but I won't do that," what is that?
A. Eat cheese from a can - or Spam.
Q. Who is your favorite superhero? Why?
A. Super Woman. Maybe next year I'll go as her for Halloween. Why? She's strong, smart and her hair always looks great.
Q. If you could go back in time, to what event or time period would you go?
A. Renaissance times. Wasn't that when the saying "Eat, drink, and be merry" was a popular mantra?
