LIFT-UP donation center closed this week

The LIFT-UP of Routt County Donation Center is closed this week for processing. All other LIFT-UP programs remain open. LIFT-UP will resume receiving donations on Sept. 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call 879-3374.

Oak Creek, Yampa, Soroco reunion Sept. 2

A reunion for Oak Creek, Yampa and Soroco alumni, teachers, support staff and administration is planned for 11:30 a.m. Sept. 2 at the high school. The cost is $15 a person for those who want to eat a catered lunch. For more information, e-mail alumnireunion07@cs.com. Donations of items for door prizes will be gladly accepted.

Oct. 6 Literary Sojourn tickets on sale now

The Literary Sojourn is Oct. 6 at the Sheraton Steamboat Resort. Steamboat's annual festival of readers and authors features Frank Delaney, Jane Hamilton, Michael Kun, Luis Alberto Urrea and Amanda Eyre Ward, with master of ceremonies Erin McKean. Tickets are on sale at Bud Werner Memorial Library and Off the Beaten Path Bookstore. Tickets cost $75 until Sept. 15. Transportation to medical centers available to vets

Transportation to the Grand Junction and Denver VA medical centers is available for veterans who are unable to drive and who have an appointment Monday through Friday at either hospital. This service is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Call the Veterans Affairs Officer of Routt County at 879-5489 or e-mail mcondie@co.routt.co.us to arrange transportation.

Veterans are encouraged to take advantage of the medical services available to them through the VA. Entering the VA medical system requires a copy of your DD 214 and about 20 minutes to fill out a form with the VA officer.

The Routt County office is in the Workforce Center in the Sundance at Fish Creek shopping center. The office is open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.
