High school still needs coaches for fall sports


The high school sports season starts Monday in Steamboat Springs, but late last week, the Steamboat Springs High School was still seeking cross country and cheerleading coaches.

Kate Parke, athletics director's secretary, said students interest in participating in those activities should contact the school Monday morning for information about when those programs begin. Athletics Director Richard Lee can be reached at 871-3686 or Parke can be reached at 871-3687.

Last week, Lee said the school was close to filling the vacancies in both positions. Other sports opening practice Monday include the football team (8:20 a.m. in the varsity locker room), volleyball (9 a.m. high school gym), soccer (9 a.m. high school athletics field), tennis (8 a.m. at the Tennis Center at Steamboat) and softball (8:30 a.m. at the Strawberry Park field.
