Gatekeeper workshop Aug. 13 and 14

— REPS (Reaching Everyone Preventing Suicide) will hold a summer Gatekeeper Workshop on Aug. 13 and 14 at the Yampa River State Park Visitors Center west of Hayden. The workshop is designed to give participants knowledge and skills that will help them know how to intervene when they fear someone might be at risk for suicide and depression. Participants will learn to link people with community resources; apply a model for intervention; reach out and offer support; recognize opportunities to help; recognize the warning signs of depression and/or suicide.

Ham 'Cram' class this weekend at YVEA

A two-day Ham "Cram" Radio Technician Class is this weekend beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Yampa Valley Electric Association building, 32 10th St. The class is free, but there is a small fee to take the certification test, which will be administered the following weekend. Participants should study before the class and take practice tests online. The "cram session" is to clear up details, watch demonstrations and prepare for the test. Hayden library looking for new book club members

Hayden Public Library is looking for new members to join the Book Discussion Club. The next discussion is at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 28. Anyone interested in joining should stop by the library to pick up a copy of the latest books that will be read and discussed.

New member training for volunteer reserves

Northwest Colorado Volunteer Reserves will hold a new member training from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 17 and Aug. 18 in conference room 1 at the Yampa Valley Medical Center. This training is one of the requirements to become a Northwest Colorado Volunteer Reserves member. Members can be eligible to respond to local, state or national disasters. Historic Properties applications due Aug. 22

Applications for designation to the Routt County Register of Historic Properties are due in the Routt County Commissioners' Office by Aug. 22.
