Bob Cooper: Town still great

My wife, Jean-Ann, and I have been spending vacations in Steamboat Springs for three summers, and I wanted to write and tell all your readers what a wonderful place the Yampa Valley and Steamboat Springs are to spend a few months.
We read your newspaper every day, and sometimes I get the feeling that with all the changes going on downtown, or the high prices for a house condo, the problems with the city, county government and School Board are getting people down. We're only summer-timers here, but I want to tell you what a great place Steamboat Springs is.
We've met so many great people here in just our first two months as new homeowners. Like Doug and his star employee, Matt, at the hardware store, who on numerous occasions helped me find stuff for our old cabin. Or Butch at the appliance store, who came the same day I called to revive my 1971 Harvest Gold Kenmore Refrigerator back from the dead. There's Ryan Werner who fixed my roof, twice. Jim Stouffer, who with his magic ladder helped me tack a cowhide on my wall, and my wife loves it. Carol Zamzow saved our lawn and Kevin miraculously made us a table in two days. Not to mention the great new friends we've made in just a short time.
I could name many more who have been great to us since we got here in June. I just wanted you to know what good people you have here in Steamboat Springs. With all the changes going on in our new town of Steamboat, I just wanted to tell you about how good this town looks to someone who lives in a big city thousands of miles away.
Yes, this valley is very beautiful to look at and play in, but the people make it more beautiful to this summertime resident. The town is changing I know, I just hope the people don't change.

Thank you, Bob.
There are good people here who have endured the test of time and the changes that come with progress.
